The Programme ALFA aims at the reinforcement of the co-operation in the field of higher education between the European Union and Latin America. Its legal basis is the Council Regulation (EEC) n° 443/92 of 25 February 1992 on financial and technical assistance to, and economic co-operation with The overall objective is the promotion of co-operation in higher education between the European Union (EU) and Latin America (LA) as a means of fostering economic and social progress by means of improving the conditions of training of highly qualified human resources as well as contributing to institution capacity building.
The Programme ALFA promotes dialogue and exchange between the academic communities of the European Union and Latin America as well as the improvement of long time procedures of cooperation through the establishment of institutional networks of high-level education, putting particular accent on mobility of students and academic staff (between the two regions and within Latin America).
The contents of this network are the sole responsibility of LAEHR and can under no circumstances be regarded as reflecting the position of the European Union.
